Muhammad Shamim Khan

Muhammad Shamim Khan FRCS (Urol) FEBU is a Professor of Urology and Surgical Education at the King’s College & Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, London. He is one of the pioneers of robotic surgery in UK and is recognised internationally for making a major contribution in robotic cystectomy.


Professor Khan served as Director BAUS office of Education member Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in Urology (UK & Ireland), Co–Chair UK National Simulation programme in Urology (SIMULATE), member Joint Committee of Higher Surgical Training (JCHST) and is joint lead for Surgical BSC King’s College London. He has been examiner FRCS Urology (UK), FCPS Urology (Pakistan) and FRCS Urology(International).


Professor Khan has over 500 publications to his name (255 peer-reviewed papers, over 300 abstracts), edited two books, contributed 10 book chapters and delivered more than 150 plenary lectures at the international meetings.He was awarded Order of British Empire (OBE) in 2007, Silver Cystoscope Award in 2017 and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2018.He has been appointed as Lead for the FRCS Urology International Examination by the Joint Royal Colleges of UK & Ireland.
