My name is Syed Johar Raza. I am medical graduate of Baqai Medical University, and completed my basic surgical training in UK, with the accomplishment of MRCS (Glas). This was followed by specialist training in Urology at Aga Khan University and achievement of FCPS examination in Urology. I then began the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) Fellowship training focused at urologic oncology and robotic surgery, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo NY. Presently I am working as Housestaff in the Division of Urology at Saint Louis University, St Louis MO.
I maintain a special interest in minimally invasive, robot assisted urologic surgeries and Urologic Oncology, with focus on bladder cancer. I serve as a reviewer for key international urologic journals. With over 40 indexed publications, over 1000 citations, 4 book chapters and many invited guest lectures, I maintain a key interest in outcomes based clinical research and advanced training methodologies, using simulators. Some of my outstanding research achievements include receipt of Best Poster Award at American Urologic Association Meeting in 2011, SIU travel fellowship grant in 2012, Best Abstract EAU Robotic Urology Section meeting in 2014 and Best Basic Science & Clinical Reports at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2015.
I retain an old, yet strong relationship with PAUS, as being awarded the Young Investigator's Award at UROCON-Lahore in 2009 as resident, and as International Faculty for UROCON-Karachi and UROCON-Faisalabad in years 2014 and 2015, respectively. It is indeed a great honor and privilege to be participating yet again at this iconic gathering of Pakistani Urologic Surgeons, attracting academic urologists world over.
