Mr Faiz Mumtaz (MD, FRCS Eng, FRCS Urol) is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital. He had his postgraduate urological training in London at Royal Free Hospital and University college London. He has over the last 20 years developed a specialist interest in laparoscopic and robotic renal cancer surgery. His expertise also includes surgery for renal tumours involving the cava/atrium as well as cytoreductive surgery to remove large kidney tumours prior to or following targeted immunotherapy for kidney cancer. He is currently involved in several renal cancer trials and has NIHR grant to develop 3D technology to assist with complex robotic partial nephrectomies
He has been the postgraduate lead for Urological training programme at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. He is the external examiner and a supervisor for postgraduate research degrees (MD and PhD). He has also published a textbook on Urological emergencies. In addition he has conducted various international workshops on minimally invasive renal cancer surgery and has been running national annual meetings for the Société Internationale d'Urologie UK section as its National Delegate since 2014.
He is also a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, European Association Urology, Société Internationale d'Urologieand Royal College of Surgeons (England). He has published widely and presented at both the national and international urological conferences.
